QU-YSC celebrates the National Day through December Aladaam Initiative

Qatar University’s Young Scientist Center (QU-YSC) launched a distinctive national initiative entitled "December Al-Adaam" that will continue throughout the month. The initiative aims to involve Qatar University students from all departments under one umbrella, to celebrate the National Day and express their pride and honor to their beloved country. The initiative is also keen to highlight, thank and appreciate all the great efforts taken by the state and the front-liners for their pronounced contributions and decisions to tackle the Corona virus pandemic during this year.
YSC found that presenting this initiative is a chance for QU students to express their gratitude for the sacrifices made and the efforts made by the state in order to preserve the people in peace and security, and that the National Day is the best occasion to express thanks and gratitude to the state.
The students documented their inspiring words and feelings towards patriotism by recording short films that were posted on the YSC social media. Each student thanked a different party like Medical staff and doctors who devoted their time and sacrificed their lives to confront the epidemic and provide the best types of health care. Other parties were also thanked through the initiative, such as engineers, teachers and workers who continued to present their work despite the circumstances that the country went through during the Corona crisis. Also students did not forget to send words of thanks and support to the heroes of the army and police for the measures they took to protect the people and keep the country safe and secure. Each student expressed his feelings in a different way. In addition, many directors of Qatar university departments and research centers also participated in the initiative, and expressed their great admiration for the initiative and found it a chance to express their pride for the university's achievements and successes that were accomplished during the Corona crisis.
Dr. Noora Jaber Al-Thani, Director of the Qatar University Young Scientists Center declared: “YSC as a center, whose basic goal is to support students, spread their scientific ideas and transform them into beneficial projects, we must also be concerned with spreading their inspiring words, their patriotic feelings and their appreciation for the state and its efforts, and this was the reason we launched the initiative. These students, despite their different specializations and interests, have one common thing, which is their love to Qatar. This year was crowned with achievements at various levels, whether at the center level, where the center’s students received numerous local and international awards, and at the country level, the great achievements made by the state at various levels. Regarding us, the biggest achievement is the union of all sectors of the state and the people, to overcome the crisis. Therefore, we directed “December Aladaam” initiative, to thank each member of the people and the state for their solidarity together in times of prosperity and times of crisis, to raise the country and continue development path. Dr. Noora, also thanked the sponsors, which is Ras Laffan Program for Social Communication, and the partners, UNESCO, the Doha Office, and the Qatar National Committee for Education, Culture and Science”.
